Strange Catch on the Torridge - 8th January 2008

Derek Avery had a surprise last Tuesday whilst fishing from the Bideford Iron Bridge!
On a rising tide at about 3 pm:-
Instead of a crab or the occasional flounder ..... he hooked into a mirror.......Carp that is!
One can only surmise how it came to be in such an unsavoury part of the river for a freshwater fish.
It weighed some 6 ¹/₂Lbs but would probably have weighed more had it been living in less salty conditions.
