Report
With the weatherman predicting dour conditions, few of the clan ventured out! Terry also had to take his daughter back to university in London, so Bob and I felt very lonely at first. About
an hour into the competition Martin arrived, but he could only stay
until lunchtime ("plenty long enough to get my brace" he said.) Mike
Williams made us feel good by telling us that it had been hard fishing,
over the last couple of days, and things didn't really improve for our
cup match! He also told us he had put in a lot of Browns and none had come out yet. The weather, however, did us proud. A couple of short, very sharp showers in the morning, but mostly brilliant sunshine. Bob
was into a fish almost immediately after we arrived, worried
about bagging up too soon, stopped fishing, had a sandwich and a
fag, and................. Didn't catch another fish for hours. I
caught one around dinner time, just before Martin had his fish and left
immediately after. I didn't have another until just before 4pm. I
played it carefully, with a well bent rod, and it shed the hook at the
last minute. 'Twas one of those days which makes fishing what it is ~ a way of life ~ not really a sport at all! The
Browns?? Well we saw them swimming about, but it was left to James, who
was pleasure fishing with his Grandfather, to show us how to catch
them. Picture Below.
'Til we meet again,
John
