John
Kirby
- I
am happily retired and married to Cathy, with one daughter - Hazel and
we are all now live in Bideford.
- I
have fished off, and (mostly on), all my life.
- Born
in the
the days of the Battle of Britain I spent many happy times with my
cousins in St.Ives, Cambridge, learning fishing as a small, eager boy
and was hooked by the first little perch on its nose in my jamjar.
- I
enjoy coarse
and fly fishing and have always built my own rods, from the first stick
rods.... well it was just after the war!!
- I
don't think I possess a rod made by anyone else to this day!
- Being
old, I enjoy mostly, fishing with built cane rods and don't get on well
with this new-fangled carbon stuff.
A mate just about to leave my Mark IV Carp Rods
- For
carp
fishing, my bite indicators are 5 pence pieces on top of my fixed
spools, as I seem to have mislaid all my old silver threepenny bits
which I saved from Christmas puddings from the old days.
- In
my past life I was an electronics engineer but that seems far away now.
- Other
hobbies are Fly Tying, Wood and Metal Turning & Photography
(which helps in this new role of running the Web Site).
- I
can
turn my hand to most things and have put Ships in Bottles and built a
Grandfather Clock and, as a young lad, even knitted, to pass the time
in air raid shelters.
- I've
never produced a Web Page, though, before November last year, so all
this is new to me.
- Tight
lines to all of you.
